Rommel Picture
Vielen Dank Ferr Doktor, much appreciated. Must have been terrible to have those Jabos bearing down on you like that. A feeking of helplessness does not adequately describe it.

Autograph Seekers
Annelie, Could not agree more that permision should be obtained from the vet whenever possible before giving out an address to others. I also agree that it is shameful for people to collect autographed photos just to sell for profit. Please to not automatically jump to the conclusion that I was goin...

Charley Fox RCAF
Thanks Herr Doktor I have always wondered if the pilot was ever made aware of his target on that fateful day. Surprised to learn it was a Canadian, but hey, they were in the thick of the fight too! Sounds like Fox was one tough customer as ground attack was a very dangerous task. Again, thanks

No doubt Sid
Thanks Sid. I am the proud  product of an Irish Catholic Father and an English (Liverpool) Protestant Mother so I have a constant inner turmoil going on inside (only kidding). I am well aware of the Irish serving with the Brits. My Dad's brother served with the Inniskilling Regiment. I am also a...

Irish in the service of the Reich?
While Ireland was officially a Neutral in WWII it is common knowledge that they often offered covert assistance to German submarines in need. Is there any record of Irishmen serving in any of the German military branches (SS, Heer, KM, Luftwaffe, etc). I do realize that any such service would only i...

A Rommel Question
Has anyone ever identified the pilot/pilots involved in the attack upon Rommel's staff car in Normandy that resulted in his serious injuries and convalesent leave home. I believe that there were two Brit Spitfires involved, has their unit ,or pilots, been identified?

Binky, I have about 300 signed RKT photos (all post war signed). Are you looking for anyone's address in particular? If so, let me know and I will see what I can do to help you. Keep in mind that many off these men are no longer alive so you may have to revert to getting their photos from other coll...

Sharks vs KM
Just a note guys, there are maneaters in the Med and South Atlantic. Great Whites roam throughout that area (even the Med) as do Bullsharks (the most aggressive) and other non-maneaters (but definitely biters) such as Blacktip and Whitetip Reef Sharks and Bluesharks.

RK photos
I have been collecting signed Knightscross photos since the early eighties, most of them signed post-war. I have about 300 photos and about 1/5th of them are signed in marker pen. These are direct from the vets themselves. Some sign old wartime photos but most sign modern day reprints. I have even s...

Weidinger photo
Check with Mark Yerger on this request. Mark is an invaluable resource for WSS information and he has a great archive of photos. He was also a personal friend of Herr Weidinger for several years before Weidinger passed away. If anyone can point you in the right direction I believe it will be Mark. :...

Pissing Match
I really don't view the exchanges here as a "Pissing Match". Although it is "just a book review" it does invoke comments on the content of the book and the author's point of view. I thought it was just an exchange of views and did not sense any acrimony or animosity in the commen...

Galland autograph
As with all WWII autographs the wartime signed pics and books bring higher prices than post war signed items. I have seen Galland signed photos (post war) ranging from $25 to $150. The book with signature would probably fall within that range unless it was offered on an auction site and a bidding wa...
