It will be a history from 1914 until 1987 full of action and technical details with a lot of inedit news from the Italian Navy archives and Admiralty PRO docs. Never seen excellent photos too from personel albums and fantastic drawnings, both technical and artist impressions in full colours. Bye EC...

I have seen nothing of US boats (Higgens or Elco) in the Mediterranean mounting the M4 or M9 37mm. Odd since this is where the P-39 was used in Europe. Dave On page 81 of Frank Johnson's United States PT-Boats of World War II In Action , there is a photo of PT459 and two sisters at Bastia showing a...

Hi Al, thanks for those references! Could you give one title about S-boats that you would recommend for persual? I couldn't buy all of them! The only books and video reference for S-boats that I have, and it may well be later in the war, show them with a quad 20mm and single 37mm cannons at the rea...

One has some schnellboote being armed with more than a dozen 20mm and 30mm weapons. From what source did that come? It is certainly not supported by any photographic or te...

Gentlemen,

While this is supposedly a research-oriented forum, this thread seems to contain a lot of unsupported definitive statements and opinions, along with some obvious inaccuracies. Maybe we could approach things in a more substantiable manner?

There are several pages of text, drawings, and photos of a HYDRA in Harold Fock's FAST FIGHTING BOATS 1870-1945.

RA 10

During a raid on Tobruk on 14SEP42, MTB 314 (a 77' ELCO PT transferred to the RN) was damaged and captured. Salvaged and placed in service as RA10 with the 6th Raumboot Flotille, she was subsequently sunk by the RAF 30APR43. Do any members have any information on this boat between capture and loss o...
