RA 10

Post by alross2 »

During a raid on Tobruk on 14SEP42, MTB 314 (a 77' ELCO PT transferred to the RN) was damaged and captured. Salvaged and placed in service as RA10 with the 6th Raumboot Flotille, she was subsequently sunk by the RAF 30APR43. Do any members have any information on this boat between capture and loss or can suggest a potential source?

Al,
I thought I had something for you from a book I have on Kuestenjaeger, but basically all it describes are the plans they had for "Operation Rice Harvest." No details on the history of RA10 are given.

I found this for you
http://www.wlb-stuttgart.de/seekrieg/km ... frames.htm

It has a RA 10 (MTB 314) of the 6th. Räumboot Flotille, (Nordsee) from June to August 1941. Later transferred to the Med.
Looking at the boats of the 6th. RbF in the Med does not mention any RA10.

Could she/it have been renamed, possibly not on the official list of boats...?

Hi,

but the sinking of RA10 (ex MTB 314) is mentioned, see 30.4.1943:
