Thanks guys, anyone know of any pics online or anywhere? I found one in my Kurowski book "Infantry Aces" but It was mostly SS with a Heer MG'er.

W-SS "loaned" to army units?

I'm working on a project and was wondering, what is the possiblility of a, say, W-SS machine gunner meeting up with reg. Army troops and advancing with them. Like if the MGer was seperated from his unit or something?

Try his book: Life and Death of the Luftwaffe
I don't know if it's still in print, I recently picked up a paperback copy used from our college library. I've only read bits and pieces so far, but it's looking good.

A Bridge Too Far is actually a very good book for the side of the allies. Very detailed and Red Baron incorrectly ID'ed it as a 'movie narrative'. The movie was based on Ryan's book, as well as accounts from veterans of the Battle of Arnhem/Market Garden. There were several vet 'overseers' on the mo...

Or what if they had modern day equivilents to the Tiger I/II tanks? Those Russian tanks they have now are pretty much obselete arn't they? We'd have a fight on our hands (USA), but with the bringing up of the self-propelled 105's to fire point-blank into Baghdad, the Iraqi-WaffenSS wouldn't stand a ...

I collect 1/6 scale WWII figures/models, and any militaria in general. My prized possessions thus far are my paternal grandfather's U.S. Army belt buckle (sentimental value is astronomical!) and green M42 helmet believed to belong to a crewman from an Panzer.

Wow, thanks for the excerpts Rudi. I enjoyed reading your interview on Feldgrau immensly. I was wondering, did your buddy have any entries on combat during the Ardennes Offensive, or about the fighting spirit of the American GI?

Siegrfried Knappe's autobiography "Soldat" is a great source for Gen. Weidling's role in the defense of Berlin. Knappe, if I'm not mistaken-I need to get the book out- was Weidling's "personal officer"(for lack of a better word) and would relay orders and messages for Gen. Weidli...

Arthur Jahnke

Hey all, I'm looking for information on Lieutenant Arthur Jahnke. So far all I know is that he was seriously wounded on the Eastern Front before being sent to France as part of the defense of the Atlantic Wall. He was stationed on the American Utah Beach, and met with Feld Marshall Rommel on May 11,...
