Here's the next letter. If anyone can help with the translation into English that would be great.

Hi Mike,
there were some passages I could not decipher and hope for others to have better eyes! :)
Here is what I thought it read.

7... 23. 11. 44

Mein liebstes Traudl!
Ich würde so gern einmal ein Schaukl-
bett u. mein liebstes Puppi immer bei mir
haben. Ich wäre so lieb zu Dir, Du könntest
mit mir machen was Du wolltest.
Heute hatten wir wieder ausgedehnten Alarm u.
mein Puppi ist sicher auch im Keller gesessen.
Ganz schauerlich hat es heute gebrannt.
Morgen früh fahre ich nach .... Ich
muss verschiedenes beim Luftgau be-
sorgen. Wegen ... als ...arzt
klopfe ich ganz leise an. Man kann ja
einmal fragen. In einer Beziehung wäre
es schon schön.
Donnerstag muss ich nochmal nach
Tegernsee fahren, man muss sich
jetzt alle Sachen selbst vom Sanitäts-
park holen.
Heute Mittag kam ich bei ... zufällig

vorbei u. wurde zum Mittagessen einge-
laden.
... ..... Traudl bleibe gesund
u. moegen die blöden Hunde (?) nicht ...
Immer
Dein Hans

Thanks again Hiltraut. I think the writer was stationed in a POW transit camp in Ukraine. (Felpost number 01068 = Dulag 241 Simferopol ,Ukraine).

I'll try to post number 9 tomorrow.
Regards,
Mike

Hi Mike,
here are some additional words. He sure had a sloppy handwriting!
On the first page, 11. line:
...Wegen Innendienste als Gauarzt...

Thanks Hiltraut. Do you think he may have been a doctor working at the transit camp ? - may explain his bad handwriting !!

It is very possible as he seems to be a Doctor, and he is dreaming about his own doctor's office one day.
If you want me to, I can try to translate as much as I understand.

Mike,
here is the translation the way I read it.
I re-read the word "nochmal" and think it was "vielleicht", first page line 15.

My dearest Traudl!
I'd like so much to have a swinging bed
and my dearest Puppi (Dolly, nickname)
always at my side. I would be nice to you
and you could do with me whatever you want.
Today we had an extensive alarm and
my Puppi was probably sitting in the basement as well.
It burned today very gruesomely.
Tomorrow morning I drive to ...
I have to obtain miscellanea at the Luftgau.
Concerning the Innendienst (work in the office?)
as Gauarzt (district doctor?) I will nudge gently.
One can ask at this point. In one respect
it sure would be nice.
Thursday perhaps I have to drive to Tegernsee,
now one must obtain all things himself
from the medic park.
Today at noon I happened to come by ...

and was invited for midday meal (Dinner).
They would like so much to see you again,
they are so delighted about you. But
I don't let you go there because I am so
jealous. Every minute I have to utilize with you.
Regarding the H. has ... must
and those cursed pigs, but it's no use for them anyway.
High treason!
As I am getting up early at ...., I am
going to bed shortly and dream strongly about you.
By the way, did I ... write ...
that I dreamed about a private doctor's office
and you were so sweet and nice to the patients that
people lined up on the street?
...... Traudl stay healthy
and may the stupid dogs not ...
Always,
your Hans

Mike, one thing puzzles me, though:
does the envelope belong to this letter?
The names in the letter are Traudl and Hans,
the names on the envelope are Hilde and Paul.
Just curious.

Hi Hiltraut,

An interesting observation. It may well be that the envelope and letter are mismatched - I have no way of knowing. It seems likely that they are however if the writer is "driving to Tegernsee" - it's a long way from the Ukraine !! Tegernsee is a spa town in Bavaria !!

Other possible translations:

Luftgau-Sanitätsabteilung (Air District Medical Detachment)
Gauarzt is a NSDAP title (but I can't translate it)
Innendienst = "in-house staff"

thanks
Mike

correction:
first page 11. line, I think the word is not "Gauarzt", but "Zahnarzt" (dentist).
