Russia, Bryansk. with Nata.

Letters from Felix and 2 from M.F. (Mutter Fuhrmann). Romi is going to Paris. I am writing airmail, one letter to Romi, one to M.F.

January 13, Wednesday
Letter from Romi from France.

January 14, Thursday
8 men (mine specialists) leaving for France. Real alarm. Partisans attacked a stronghold.

January 15, Friday
with Staudinger in the forest collecting wood. Crash with officer. Car demolished. Letter from Fly (?).

After quite a long time without air attacks, we had one today. There is damage at the rail station. We have broken windows. Warnings until the early morning

January 25 Monday

January 26, Tuesday
On the 25th, I received a letter from M. F. about Paris. Wrote right back.
Air attacks from 11 pm – 4 am with some breaks in between. Training and target practice. More air attacks at 4 pm, bombs in quarters area and yards.

January 27, Wednesday
Air attack from 5 pm-2 am. 6 bombs. Everybody is tense. People walking around. Soup stays in the basement.

January 28, Thursday
Air attack, light

January 29, Friday
Minor air attack

January 30, Saturday
Scouting the land for possible attacks.

January 31, Sunday
Scout land for possible attack

Hi Canadien,

Please keep it coming.

It is very informative to see the day to day life of an individual at war. Due to the nature of media coverage, most people seem to think it is all action and heroics. More typically life for a soldier was one of tedium and repetition, with a few intense moments.
