5cm PAK 38 auf Panzer 1
A few years ago someone published photos of several of these vehicles in the Caucasus in 1942 whether they were field conversions or were built in Germany I don't know but they were definitely on Pz1 chassis not the two experimental ones made on Munition Carrier chassis as seen in Encyclopedia of German tanks so it would be very usefull to see if any more info comes to light yours Ross

The original PzJg.I was to have the 5cm PAK...
...but the prospective upgunning of the PzKW.III prevented that.
There were plenty of confiscated Czech 47mm AT guns for mounting. I've read that a prototype of the PzJg.I mit 5cm was planned, (or made), but there's no proof of this.
Good hunting

there (below panzerjaeger 1) it says that the 5cm pak38 version was planned, but not built. but its possible that 5cm paks were used, i mean there isnt a big difference to 4,7cm paks (is there?). maybe they had no ammunition left for the 4,7cm guns and mounted some of their 5cm paks?
anything possible.

Anything is possible...
...such as the mounting of 88mm PAK inside the JPz.VI but there are no photos or reliable first-hand accounts for this planned vehicle.
If one can point me towards a reliable source for the actual
field or factory mounted 5cm onto the PzJg.I, then consider me a believer.
I await your educated comments, etc.
Good hunting
