ALCON,
I am researching the motorcycle numbers for the WIKING Division. I ran across a Feldgrau post dealing with the Division's assigned vehicular numbering system. The post additionally provided license plate numbers for many of the other Waffen SS Divisions. Speciffically, the post included WIKING Division numbers as follows:
102001 - 112000 SS-Division "Wiking"
112001 - 112500 Ers.Btl. SS-"Westland"
112501 - 113000 Ers. Btl. SS-"Nordland
The book written by Rupert Butler, SS-WIKING, THE HISTORY OF THE FIFTH SS DIVISION 1941-1945 shows on page 78, a Division motorcycle with license plate number SS-115 025. Is this a correct number? I would also like to know the Unit within WIKING this motorcycle was assigned to.
Thank you all,
WIKINGER
