Anyone any info on Ernst Kemper of Wiking Division? Am related and would love contact with remaining veterans who may have known him for first prson account. Any info appreciated

Actually Ernst Kemper was promoted from SS-Standartenführer to SS-Oberführer on January 30, 1945 and confirmed by the entry on his Führerkarte. He was the only signal officer with the rank of SS-Oberführer and only three other Waffen-SS signal officers were senior in rank to him in 1945.

Below is a photo of Ernst Kemper from between November 1936 and October 1937 when he was signal platoon leader of II./SS-Standarte "Deutschland". Note the "1" on his collar tab associated with the Standarte "Deutschland". I obtained this photo from the former Berlin Document Center back in 1991 when it was under US administration along with hundreds of other such photos they provided me with for my SS signal officers book.
