Infiltration Tactics

Hello Gents:
It seems to me that infiltration tactics are inherently dangerous to the infiltrators and probably always have been. The very real possibility of being cut-off from one's own lines would have to be an ever present risk. I was wondering if this was ever discussed in German tactical training in either or both world wars?? Any thoughts would be helpful. Thank you.
