Back in the early 1980's Ken Small, a former Policeman and Hotelier from Devon took on the establishment single handed. The culmination of his quest to see a permanent memorial to the lost servicemen of Tiger was the recovery of a Sherman DD tank from off the coast of Slapton.

To this day the tank has been the focus for survivors and their relatives in many pilgrimages to England.
