David Irving recieved three years jail in Austria

The (in)famous historian and revisionist David Irving has just recieved a three year sentence in Austria for denying the Holocaust. Apparently he now says that the extermination of european Jews did happen in the german concentration camps. See link:

Speaking as a (non-practising) Jew, this can only promote anti-Semitism. As Ms Lipstadt said, the best way to combat the arguments of negationists is to employ truth and fact. It is bad that Irving goes in prison because this makes him a martyr.

I agree with Bill. People denying the Holocaust should be regarded as seriously as people denying the moon landings, black slavery, the Roman Empire or any other historical fact.

Really, he got what he deserved in the Brit libel trial- it made him look like an idiot.

Why toss him in jail for speech? All it does is give the neo nazis more ammo, and rub the Muslims nose in the oddity that is the European verision of free speech.
