I'm not familiar with german uniforms.
Is there something particular to notice that could help me to identify his regiment, activity or anything else ?

He's written to my father and says in German something like "he will certainly not received more news from this small soldier"...

This soldat belonged to the 848th Regiment of the 282th Infantery Division (part of the 6th army south Ukraine).
He most probably disappeared between the 22 and august 31 1944, during the heavy offensive of the soviet Army named "Jassy-Kischinew-Chisinau".
I unfortunately don't have additional information on his fate ....
