This was the end of the war and officers were taken out of the SS-Führerreserve to assume commands which did not always correspond to their effective ranks.
Hi!

Interesting Charles, but I need confirmation. If there was any entry on the Führerkarte to GARTHE I guess that John Moore would have seen it and given the information on his Führer-CD. GUTOWSKI was found by luck by John when scanning through the Wiking Ruf magazines in the 1950s.

I will do the same with GARTHE and search through various german archives in search of any clue about him.

Hi!

Willi GUSSEN was a Spiess within the Frw. Legion Norwegen and became Btl.Spiess in I./Norge, he was later an Officer within the Statt of Rgt. Norge and it is assumed that he died in Berlin 1945.

Ewald STOCK, maybe it is a wrong spelling and should be Robert STOCK, an SS-Hscha from 2./Nordland who came to 10./Norge and eventually was wounded 25.2.44. He became a Tapferkeitsoffizier and served in SS-Fa.Btl. 500 later a short time.

Hans LAST was presumed KIA in Berlin but ended up in russian captivity, and later repatriated in the 1950s, as I remember writing off-hand.

Hi!

Njaal BJÖRKELID was not a platoon leder in the III./Nordland. He held the rank of a private then in 1941/42. He was an Btl.Adj within the II./NORGE. You must me mixing together his time in Rgt. Nordland and Rgt. NORGE.
