gas mask canister correct positon

hope members to mind to ask stupid or basic questions
i am doing some reserch in combination with my new hobby as a collector and kit basher of 1/6 scale german military action figures
was there a rule or regulation on what was the correct way of wearing the gas mask canister for the Waffen SS on the field?

I am not sure whether or not there was a regulation way of wearing it, but several veterans of the Galician div told me that they dumped the gass mask and used the container for carrying items such as food, playing cards, ponchos etc

Strap over right shoulder, can under and behind left arm. Hook strap goes under the belt and hook sits over top of belt. I usually have this to the right of my y-strap hook.
