Hi Gogi - I'm glad you liked the documents. Do you know what happened to Chervachidze at the end of the war? Do you think he survived? He had six children (a son when he was only about sixteen!). Perhaps internet searches can turn up family members. I will keep my eyes open for more files on Georgia...

Hi Gogi -

The source of my information is the officer's personnel file, which unfortunately only consists of one page.

If you'd like copies of this document, send me a pm with your address and I'll get the copy out to you.

Best regards,

George

Hi Gogi -

Welcome to the forum. Information on the Georgian volunteers is quite scarce so your expertise here is most valuable.

Will your book be published in German or English?

Best regards,

George

Hello - There have been some excellent posts in this thread. I particularly liked Christoph's comparison of the number of books on the Heer's 1. Panzer Division to those regarding the LSSAH. I could see where perhaps the LSSAH might have had a few more books written about it since it was Hitler's bo...

Hi Panzermahn -

Thank your for the recommendation of my book.

I certainly agree with you regarding the "Cross of Burgundy" Kragenspiegel photo in Eddy's book. What an incredible Soldbuch.

Best regards,

George

That Soldbuch was one of about 200 or so that were found inside an old ammunition box in an Austrian barn in the late 1980s. All of the men were from the same battali...

If you do not have any FACTUAL information regarding Hungarian volunteers in German service, keep your comments to yourself.
