There is no Keller listed as knight's cross holder of the Waffen-SS.

I've read - don't ask me where, I don't know at the moment - that Mohnke worked as a salesman after the war, for car trailers, I think.

He never got a trial and died in 2001 at Hamburg.

There was a certain number of young men who were allowed to join the Waffen-SS. This had to be decided by the Wehrkreiskommandos, I think.

That's what I understand from George H. Stein's "History of the Waffen-SS".

In Normandy Wittmann's gunner was certainly not Woll.

Woll got his own Tiger tank after coming back from Ukraine in spring of 1944. He later, between the training in Eastern France and the transfer to Normandy, was injured in an air-attack.

At first, like Timo already wrote, correct your spelling when you search for those books.

Then, try booklooker.de or zvab.com. Or abebooks.com, to find them.

Errm, overhere in Germany we had the discussion about Güther Grass back in summer 2006 already, after he put his book "Beim Häuten der Zwiebel" on the market.

So it is pretty well known today.

I think it is senseless to try it again and again. If you think you are right with your views, okay... but then don't try to bother others with it or condemn them because they have a critical opinion.

FLC and Sid, keep in mind that the swastika flag was made the national flag of Germany by Hitler and the use of the Black/Golden/Red and Black/White/Red flags was disestablished. So it is actually to blame Hitler on this. About the May issue: Stahlberg writes that Manstein and him had to organize a ...

Actually I did not want to join this discussion about Peiper again, since for me it is clear that he was, also due to the fact that he was so close to Himmler and his staff, directly involved with knowledge about the camps ect. and not only the apolitical soldier lad who just wants to go out and fig...

I think you are referring to the "08/15" series of three novels.

They are quite good actually. About an artillery unit from pre-war time until the end of war. And, I think, they are filled up with a decent morality and humour.
I like them.
Keep in mind the background of the author, too.

I have the German edition of Westemeier's book, however I notice the English edition has a lot more photographs. I was wondering, are these photographs new and never been published, or are they older photos that you might find in Agte's book????? I ask, because if there are any unpublished photos, ...

Sauvant, Stahlberg writes that he moved with Manstein to Munich on 1st of July '43, then moved to Bucarest afterwards and on 12th July '43 there came the order from Führerhauptquartier to get to Hitler again - to Wolfs' lair/Rastenburg - on 13th of July. Toghether with Kluge to the noon briefing (&q...

Hey there. I also read the German edition. There you can read on pages 333 to 335 about the operation Zitadelle and that indeed Stahlberg and v. Manstein went to Munich. But he writes that they went there to a commanders conference on 1st July 1943, held at the NSDAP's central headquarters to meet H...

I suppose there was hardly any traffic in those days. Most traffic was - if I'm not wrong - in war times from military columns and needed supplies for the industry.
Most goods, however, were transported on rail.
