Unknown Equipment.

Post by tigre »

Hello to all :D; anyone here could identify this device. It seems that it belonged to an artillery unit deployed at Nowo Nikolajewka around Kertsch (may be in 1942). Perhaps it could be a survey equipment? Thanks in advance.

Hello Landserstudent :D. Thanks for joining here. I am struck by the tripod, is not a regular radio device, since it needs leveling. It could be a some kind of goniometer in any way?. Cheers. Raúl M 8).

Oniometer? You've got me puzzled on that.

These are definitely interesting photos. My first gut-level was the apparatus was some type of antennae/Senderapparat; some photos of U-Boot conning towers, and also S-Boot calottes, show this type of device.
Some communications vehicles in Afrikakorps shots show them too.

Ja, I'm new to Feldgrau, and find it a great site. At, last,a place to study a lifelong interest of mine (relatives served on both sides in WWII).

Just one more thought on the items in the photos: Could be radar/rangefinding equipment. If these photos are of a Stellung in Russia,
probably a Funker detachment with an artillery unit.

Thanks-

Hello Landserstudent :D; yes, I agree. Possible some element (target acquisition) from a Beobachtungs-Abteilung. See below.....Cheers. Raúl M 8).

Hello, All!
My first thought was that here is a question about Anti-Artillery device, used to pinpoint enemy atillery positions when the enemy Artillery starts firing.
I might very well be wrong, but that's my guess. :?
