Re: 23. SS "Nederland" Berlin 1945
Maybe someone can give me the answer to the question: did 23 SS division 'Nederland' fought in Berlin? I read The German Defense of Berlin by W.Willemar where it says the following: 6. Remnants of other combat units, including the 9th Parachute Division and SS Panzer Grenadier Division "Nederl...

Re: Looking for reports
The Russians have records from German units. The extent is unknown, but a well known author tells me he has laid eyes on an Army KTB , but not allowed to touch or copy. Getting those records, from what I hear, is literally impossible, unless you are a high ranking general in the Russian army. Or Vl...

Hendrik, This week I travel to Germany etc. for some research, here is a English link of the Magistrat Graz . E-mail: stadtverwaltung@stadt.graz.at You could provide them of all information available and ask them if they have further details, don't forget that it's very common in Germany to pay for ...

Re: Dutch Foreign Volunteer
Richard, There has been a twist in the search for Teunis. Even though the National Archives in Den Haag hold no record of him (databases & card systems), the Regional Archivist in Epe found a reference to him on a Civil Registration form. The reference states:- "According declaration from ...

Re: can anyone help id wat unit my grandfather was in please
Richard, If you have 40 requests in progress I can see why perhaps that yours sometimes takes longer! There is "no longer" at the WASt, if the request is for official matters / private matters or research. Even for official matters (government) it's not going faster, I use a "Amtlich...

Re: can anyone help id wat unit my grandfather was in please
I just checked, when I was searching for my grandfather, it took the WASt only two (!) months to find the first information. A second request took them longer (also about my grandfather), about eight or nine months. Normally when it takes about 2>3 months it wasn't the first tracing request for thi...

Re: can anyone help id wat unit my grandfather was in please
You could fill out a Private Request Form regarding his military career at the Deutsche Dienstelle (WASt). You have to be patient for about 6>8 month's before you get a answer (if there is any information regarding your grandfather available).

Re: African German Soldiers?
Just a few examples but the are plenty more !! There seem to be black africans who served as drivers for the NSKK, but so far I haven't seen any pics or evidence so far. I just heard the rumour. :x http://www.axishistory.com/fileadmin/user_upload/a/arab-soldier-greece.jpg http://www.axishistory.com/...

Re: Dutch Foreign Volunteer
Richard, I have had an email from the National Archief in Den Haag, saying that the name Biesterbos is not mentioned on their database, but they still have to check their card-index boxes. The search will be long and difficult, but there must be some records out there somewhere. Still waiting on a ...

Re: Dutch Foreign Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in my search. Teunis Biesterbos was born on April 27, 1923. My family home was in Epe, Holland, so I assume he was born there. There is very little else I can tell you about him, as my parents never raised the subject in our presence. Hendrik, I couldn't find Teunis Bies...
