Re: A bizarre German expression
Roughly translated it comes down at "Take it up the Rear" / "Up yours". The later,to my knowledge is the Englisch [UK] way of putting things. It is a "bitching" comment. For the explanation of Rudy, "Kiddingly" usage of the expression never the less has the ob...

Re: Fechtend
my translation is litterally, its possible they mean more technical stuff or something,i just translated it straight up  greets well, if it were literal, it really would mean fencing troops :-) and initially (without having read the rest of the thread) I would have said exactly that; I had nev...

Re: Support units
Kraftfahrschwadron could well point at the same as KraftfahrKorps. "Motorized Support troops"
maybe they received troops from the NSKK ?? [Nationalsozialistische Kraftfahrkorps].

Re: Serving the Dutch Landwacht '43
Wow :D Super info, thanks. On his compagnie there are not much details given, as you now discripe. I think is was a bit of a "blury" set-up organisation structure in those times. The Stadwacht and hilfspolizei would be correct when I see his other PRA doc's in that sence. I have some PRA i...

Re: Serving the Dutch Landwacht '43
...The story sounds a little rambled. And "laying down their weapons" in April 45, is certainly questionable. "They all deserted and submerged" would have been more logic. Furthermore, the Landwacht, later renamed Landstorm Nederland WAS under direct control of the Waffen SS, as...

Re: Execution of Black Soldiers
Landwacht, check out the rules around posting in this section - and beware generalisations... :?: I said Many , not all. Regarding POW treatment, you could check out paragraphs in several literature's. Recently read in "Grebbenlinie 1940" by Mr. E.H. Bongers. It tells on official records ...

Re: Execution of Black Soldiers
I've heard more on similar incidents happening. SS regiments held themselves as the ultimate Übermensch. Many SS regiments were not
so "gent's like" with regards to POW's let allone to Black POW's. Manny of them got shot as did other colloured captured army men.
