How many veterans do you think will be there in 2004? i guess there will be not so many. And will there be a big remembrance day for the invasion?

Barring tragic death on my person, I will be there with one of my two surviving uncles, who was in the 101st during the invasion (as well as subsequent campaigns).

As to your question, certainly fewer and fewer than were there ten years ago (sadly).

I was last in Normandy in 1994.
Might go over next yar but it will be either there or the Netherlands ...would like to visit La Cambe and Villers again.
Last time I was over thre was a massive gathering of Allied truck , jeeps and half tracks mostly American , with odd British thrown in one of which was a fantastic Quad and 25lb gun.
Probably as with all , time and age thin out the ranks even the youngest must now be pushing hard on 80 years of age.
" Life , to be sure is nothing much to loose ; But young men think it is , and we were young . "
A.E. Housman.
