Hi Deutsclanderwache,

There is a precedent. Germany was beaten by Slovakia 2:1 in Bratislava in the Slovakia's first post "independence" game in 1939.

Does anyone know if any other German satellites beat Germany at football over 1939-45?

Was Bohemia-Moravia counted as an international team during this peeriod?

Cheers,

Sid.

Wie Geht's, Deutschlanderwache,

It looks like a victory for Germany.

But the Scotland manager Berti Vogts is determined not to be defeated by
his former pupil, Rudi Voller. Germany are the better side, but Herr Vogts
knows the German football system.

A draw perhaps 8)

Bis bald,

What did the english say about playing against germany long time ago? Its a game of 90 minutes and in the end, germany wins.

But since the german national soccer team isnt the best any more, the scots will have a fair chance to win this game.

As for Linekers famous saying, it is somewhat astonishing that nobody seems to know what he actually said. There are countless versions circulating, among them:

"Football is a game where 22 men chase a ball around the pitch for 90 minutes, then the Germans win."

"Football is a game in which 22 men run round after a ball, and at the end Germany win."

"Football is a game played by 22 players. And then Germany win."

"Football is a game consisting of 11 men playing against 11 men and in the end the Germans always win."

"Football is a game played over two halves of 45 minutes, at the end of which the Germans win."

etc. etc.

I think this is called the "fog of sport"?

Now that 1:1 was (again) unneccesary. Germany could have won, but they again didn't use their chances.

Guten Tag,

We all had a great time. Herr Vogts is happy. After the game the songs were also great:

'Gebt Raum der deutschen Arbeit,
Für uns die Strasse frei !'

And so on. 8)
