Sperrgruppe Schäfer

Post by Jebir »

Hello there

I have come across a mention of this group, Sperrgruppe Schäfer, and was wondering if anyone has any information about it's whereabouts other than what can be found in a post on this forum, namely that they were in operation around Moscheiken (Mazeikiai today) in the baltics?
I have found some mention of them in "Tragedy of the faithful" (Tieke, p. 174-176), but that only spans a couple of days in october 1944.

Another thing; the area of "Aswinsi-Bigisi" is mentioned - should be somewhere in the Baltics, but I have not been able to locate the area - can anyone help?
Furthermore, the book describes a fallback to Micini - Again, the only Micini I can find is in the opposite end of the country in the direction of the enemy, so I cannot make any sense of this - anyone dare to make a guess or suggestion about this? :-)

Thanks in advance,
Jebir
