Dear all
My Grandmother was in an air-raid shelter on the night of 24th May 1943 when a parachute mine landed on the shelter, but failed to explode. Family legend has it that a fuze ring was placed on back to front. If the PM had exploded, I wouldn't be here typing right now....
I'd be grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction to find out which Luftwaffe units were involved in the attack on Sunderland and area on that night.
Thanks very much.
Regards
Ian

Seventy-three aircraft from KG 2, KG 40 & KG 6 were involved in raids on the Sunderland & South Shields area. 1./KG 2 & 5./KG 40 both lost Dornier Do-217's while 7./KG 6 lost a Ju-88.
