Stab list from 1945 year only (the best will be january )

344 ID , 359 ID , 545. Volks-Grenadier-Division , Sturmgeschütz-Brigade 301

If anybody can help - please respond

371 Infantry Division:

1087 Grenadier Rgt.

... at this stage in the war is very daunting for any researcher !!

I am digging up this old thread because I am still on the search about information about my German
grandfather. Which units was he assigned to? Where was he stationed during the second world war..?
etc. etc.

So, I have been in contact with the German Bundesarchiv, they didn't have much, but they had this,
and you might find it interesting:

Zivilberuf: Landwirtschafts Rat
Bemerkungen: Major der Reserve Godtfring, Alwin am 14.02.1945 als Bataillons-Führer zum Regiment versetzt.

In other words:
854 Grenadier Regiment, Commander from 14.02.1945
I find it a bit strange myself because these news was totally unknown to my mother and my family.
I believe he were assigned to the 854 Grenadier Regiment first in 1945, and that he came from another division before that.
I know he was previously assigned to Grenadier Regiment 26/Füssilier Regiment 26, and he was on the Eastern front since
ca 1941/1942. This is more or less all I know My Grandfater passed away in 1980.

Have you placed a request with the Deutsche Dienstelle(WASt)?? I believe they should have a record of all of his assignments. I think you can place a request on-line; here is a link: (http://www.dd-wast.de/). I think it takes awhile, and you will have to agree to pay the cost, but it should give you what you want. Under Sprache on the site you will find English as a choice which will simplify your request. Best wishes.

many thanks for your answer, it is much appreciated. I have already contacted the Deutsche Dienstelle (WASt), but they had absolutely no information about him. I might give it a second try though, because I see that I gave them the wrong birth year, shouldn't make much difference really but we will see.
