3rd Co 721st In Reg/Renamed 714 In Div/114 Jager Div

I just found out that a relative joined 3rd Co 721st In Regt on 15 Dec 1941. I think that the unit was renamed and ended up the 114th Jager Div. He was captured by the Allies at Aprilia, Italy, on 19 Feb 1944, transported somewhere to Yugoslavia before being sent to a British POW Camp in Egypt. He was released from the Egyptian camp on 12 July 1948. Does anybody know where the 721st In Regt had its basic training and any information as to where/how the 114th Jager Div POWs got to Egypt?
