70 Infantry Regiment

Post by dazza »

Hello,

does anyone have information on 70 Infantry Regiment III Bat, part of 111 Infantry Division from August 1942 as I believe they were fighting in the Causcasus at this time or of the battles in the Causcasus at this time?
Is it also possible to obtain listings of the men who were in this Regiment if I am not directly related family?

Thanks

Hello Fruity
There isn't much in English, that I know of, that covers the Caucasus campaign but one that does and is recommended is The Caucasus And The Oil by Wilhelm Tieke...

Hello Dazza!

First of all, you can always find some detailed basic information on units at www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de when it comes to theatre deployment and so on... Since you seem to be more deeply interestes when it comes to details and personel, you have the book "Geschichte der 111. Infanterie-Division 1940 - 1944", Friedrich Musculus, Selbstverlag des Trad.Verb. der 111. Inf.Div. e.V. I found one copy on the after a quick search but they don't come cheap...

Good luck with your research,
