HI all,
Does anyone know what Sonderbefehl " Sonderelbe IM" means?
Someone in Germany asked me this and using Google i only found this next few lines. But further nothing!!
"Erich Seidel, Corporal, Armoured Infantry Wehrpass, 18-1-40 Entitled to: Iron Cross 2nd Cl., Wound Badge in Black. He served July 42-May 43 as driver with Pz.Gren.Rgt.101 of the 18.Pz.Div., then operating in Russia (Orel). June 43 he was discharged as being indispensable (UK-Stellung) in his civil occupation (transport-labourer) for a war industry project with the codename "Sonderelbe I M" (not identified)"
Does anyone have a clue??
KInd regards,
Erik

Re: "Sonderelbe IM"
Hello Erik !
It seems Sonderelbe is simply a codename for a special Führererlass,
allowing to relieve specialists, which where important for the armament industry,
from frontline-duties, exactly as in the example you found on the web.
It might be, that the two letters following Sonderelbe are a code for the
the specific project. In this case, I am tempted to speculate, that the I could also
be a J and stands short for Jasmin, which would would make it a Kammler project.
But I don't know enough of it, to say if this fits with the date of June '43.
Just a possible trace ...
So happy hunting and best regards,
hero.
