grandfather info

Post by semperfi »

Hi All,

I've got this info from Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge e.V. regarding my grandfather. He was originally from Silesia/POLAND:

Name: Pietrek, Reinhold
Dienstgrad: Gefreiter
geboren: 12.05.1911 Birkenhain
gefallen/vermisst: 25.02.1944 Kostejewo
Beschreibung: Erkennungsmarke - 2402 - 1.Inf.Ers.Btl.I/482
Gefallen - 25.02.1944 im Raum Kostejewo/UdSSR
Grablage - Soldatenfriedhof Ossipowo/Russland, Grab 193
lt. Meldung vom Februar 1944 - 7.Kompanie,
Grenadier-Regiment 306,
211.Infanterie-Division, Witebsk

I am looking for any information regarding fights of this unit close to Witebsk or Kostejewo in Ferbuary 1944.
I am also looking for any information regarding Soldatenfriedhof Ossipowo/Russland...does it exist or not?

thanks in advance
Michal

Hello Michal and welcome to Feldgrau!

Here's some (very) basic information on the 211. Infanterie-Division and it's subordinate units, including your Grandfathers regiment...

Good luck with your research,
