I know that some panzer crews removed the stiffeners of the M1935 peaked caps to make them more comfortable to wear with the microphones (and thusly, more like the M1934 "old style" peaked cap, which had no stiffeners). There are, however, two stiffeners inside the M1935: a wire ring that runs around the inside and a "front stiffener" (for lack of a better or more acurate word) inside the front of the cap (behind the cocade and the eagle), which makes the cap appear "erect".
Now, the question is, was only the wire ring removed (which is quite easy) or was the "front stiffener" also removed?
