Post by Enrico Cernuschi »

Hello Gentlemen,

I'm just back from a visit to El Alamein.
I would like to know how many German generals died in North Africa and in Sicily during those campaings.

Greetings

Thank you Jerry.

Were there similar losses during the 1941 Balkan campaign and the following partisan warfare until 8 Sept. 1943?

Enrico,

Except for GL Wilhelm Suessmann, Kdr. 7 FlD, who was killed during the invasion of Crete in 1941, I don't believe that any German generals were killed in the Balkans 1941-1943. Several were killed in Yugoslavia in '44 & '45, but none that I can see in '42 or '43.

Thank you, Jerry.
Now the search is over. The number of German and Italian generals KIA in North Africa, Sicily and the Balkans is not too much different, I see.

Bye
