Is Hptm Wolfgang Zechiel who was St.Kap. Wekusta. 5 (until Feb41) the same individual as Wolfgang Ziechel (Zechiel?) who was Gr.Kdr. Stö.KGr.Lfl. 1 and then Gr.Kdr. NSGr. 1

Seems quite a coincidence (if they are the same guys) for two ex staffelkapitäne from the same weather recce staffel to end up as kommandeure of night attack gruppen

Yes indeed, my father lieutenant-colonel Wolfgang Zechiel was commander of NSG1 (Nachtschlachtgruppe 1) in Ttrondheim and Siwerskaja. He died in 1974 in Munich.
