Waffen SS Officers without collar insignia?

hi, I jsut saw this pic of a Waffen SS General, Bittrich, without collar insignia Anyone got ideas how or why, and was this commonplace? Thanks for any help!

There was a period of time, early war, that SS officers had specific orders from Himmler to remove all collar insignia in the field. This so they would not be targeted.

The photo has been deleted, but during the Nuremburg Trials the Waffen-SS were to remove all of their insignia. Wehrmacht were not to do this.

Also, Waffen-SS were ripping off there cuff titles and insignia by the end of the war in an effort to not be mistreated.
