Russischer Schutz Korps (RSK) Dec.44 NW Sarajevo

Post by TomL »

I'm curently transcribing a diary of an Sanitätsunteroffizier working as an Entomologist and Desinfektor in Yugoslavia 44/45.
On 7.12.44 this person is ordered to the Regimentsarzt of the 5. Regiment of the RSK Russischer Schutz Korps (Russian Security Corps). At that time the 5.Rgt. RSK operates 40 km northwest of Sarajevo (Rgt.Stab in Busovaca, Versprengtenstelle in Zenica) against partisan attacks allong the Sarajevo-Slavonski Brod railway.
Heavy fighting is going on (on 11.12.44 3-4 dead, 40+ wounded) and the morale and equipment (old & captured Italian uniforms & rifles) of the RSK is quite poor. The diary mentions that Germans, Slowaks, Russians, people from Turkmenistan, Arabia, the Bukovina & Besarabia are there fighting the partisans.
Could someone provide me with further information about the RSK (composition, equipment, history, whatever...). Is it true that all of the above mentioned nationalities were part of the RSK?
Every bit of info about the RSK would be valuable for me.
Thanks
Tom
