GI Combat...

Post by Santiago »

Helo,
Few weeks ago i read about a new game G.I. Combat,
and mikerock give us the url of the game to download the demo.
http://www.gicombat.com/

The screenshots seems good, prety good.
But i read a review in internet,

http://gamespot.com/gamespot/stories/re ... 01,00.html

And they told that the game it´s very bad. :?
The readers of the internet magazine don´t give a good note for this game.
And in the review they told:...

G.I. Combat's biggest shortcoming is that it has very little gameplay. Instead, it has a heap of confusion. Once you place your units for a battle and press the start button, you're on a confusing ride to the end of the time limit. You can give your squads and vehicles orders, but the game plays in relentless real time, and it doesn't give you enough information about what your men are doing, where they're going, or even what they are. The selection of orders you can give is limited, and they often get overridden by the tactical AI for reasons that aren't always clear. You can't always tell when a unit can see another unit. You can't easily tell when someone is under fire. Sometimes, you won't even be able to find a unit or squad. Once the firing starts, men start shouting and tracers dot the landscape. Sometimes something burns or gives off smoke. People die often. Tanks blow up. If you give enough movement orders, it's possible you might eventually grab a victory location. It might realistically model the chaos and confusion of a real-world skirmish, but it's hardly playable.
The screenshots seems good, but the game seems to by not very good...
Someone had it?.
Others impressions?.
Someone had play the demo?.

Bye,

From my experiences with the demo, that is the most accurate review I've read of the game. I found it to be very frustrating - and disappointing.

I'm spending my money on Medal of Honor: Spearhead and Hearts of Iron instead.

Well

Well Guys, they jinxed themselves by using the name "GI Combat". Way back when I was a kid, everyone knew that was the name of a comic book, starring the "Haunted Tank". To use "GI Combat" as the name of a
video game is....sacriligeous.

yes.. you´re right!!.

And Medal of Honor Allied Assault and the new expansion for PC
Medal of Honor SearHead, would be one of the better choices.
In Spain we haven´t yet the expansion... It will comming soon!!.

But in the same Magazine, they giev a very good note for the game, as the same as the readers. 8)

They say....

Spearhead begins with a scene that could have been taken straight out of Band of Brothers: It's D-Day, and you're on a transport plane that will soon drop you into Normandy. As explosions rock the aircraft, you stand up, perform an equipment check, and then take your turn jumping out of the plane. Once outside, you descend 3,000 feet through a chaotic sky full of other paratroopers, AA tracers, planes, and bursting shells, finally crashing through the roof of a barn crawling with Nazis. The entire episode is presented seamlessly, and it's one of the most impressive opening scenes ever created for a first-person shooter.

Santiago..G.I Combat **does** suck

Played the demo and I see little that wants me to purchase the full title. If your looking for a similar but miles better gaming experience nothing comes close to Combat Mission 2: Barbarossa to Berlin..Awesome!!!

Also I've played Spearhead the MOH:AA expansion and it rocks!! The first part looks exactly the same as the 101st Airborne landings in France depicted in Band of Brothers. I laughed when I crashed through the roof of a barn and had to cut myself free of the parachute. The laugh was short lived though as I quickly realized the place was swarming with Germans. Awesome!!!!
