German military brilliance/genius.

Post by FanOfGermanMilitaryMight »

Does anyone have information on Hitler's purge of non-useful officers in the Wehrmacht. As it was, the brilliant German officers still managed to show their worth, but my understanding is that a lot of quality officers were lost resulting in replacements such as the General who opposed Rommel's view that the Allies would strike at Normandy and had to be crushed there. Subsequently Hitler allowed forces to be split between 'his man' and Rommel, I believe. Any information?

not answering your question but still...to be fair i dont think there were many "non useful officers" in the Wehrmacht at this time. it was desperate for officers after the bleeding of troops on the Ostfront.
