Konstantinowskoje map

Post by rhaught »

Have a handmarked XXXX Panzer Korps map of the Konstantinowskoje region on the River Don. Doing research on it and have found a map in Paul Carells' Stalingrad on page 69. It has the korps hq marked in Tjapkin shows 3rd Pz in Konstantinowskoje and advances, 23rd Pz in Nikalajewskaja and advances as well as 29 mot. in Zymljanskaja and advances. Now, it also shows GD at Melichowskaja and advancing to Sswoboda on the Manyisch River. However, can't find this for sure in my resources. Can someone let me know if GD was here as part of XXXX Panzer or for support on the flank?

Thanks
Rob

GD was part of XXXXVIII Pz.K. for the opening phases of "Blau" until early August, when GD began transfere to H.Gp. Mitte. XXXXVIII Pz.K. units closed up to the lower Don River the third week of July to the west of XXXX Pz.K. units.

Hope that answers your question.
