Egocentrism

Post by behblc »

Not based on ego on my part , more on disgust when you think of Adolf all his propaganda and lies.
I can't recall the words in which he dismissed the german people as being unworthy of him .......some ideas about himself.

betrayal

It is informative to study the documentation and take from it an impartial and considered understanding.

In Berlin, on 29 April, 1945, at 4 a.m., Adolf Hitler composed his political testament. It was witnessed by Dr Joseph Goebbels, Martin Bormann, Wilhelm Burgdorf and Hans Krebs.

The following quotes are from this testament:

"I die with a joyful heart in the knowledge of the immeasurable deeds and achievements of our peasants and workers and of a contribution unique in the history of our youth which bears my name.

"That I am deeply grateful to them all is as self-evident as is my wish that they do not abandon the struggle but that, no matter where, they continue to fight the enemies of the Fatherland, faithful to the ideals of the great Clausewitz. Through the scarifices of our soldiers and my own fellowship with them unto death, a seed has been sown in German history that will one day grow to usher in the glorious rebirth of the National Socialist movement in a truly united nation.

"Many of our bravest men and women have sworn to bind their lives to mine to the end. I have begged, and finally ordered, them not to do so but to play their part in the further struggle of the nation."

As can be seen, he acknowledges the efforts of all the German people, and their sacrifices, both worker and soldier, and pays them tribute. He also orders them not to shed anymore of their blood.

To read the factual documents often exposes weak and biased opinions from those who choose not to do so.

Not to shed their own blood .

Having read Hitlers self important quotes which you provided.
He does not ask them not to shed their own blood merely that they should not bind their lives to his by suicide.
He does however ask that they should "Play their part in the further struggle of the nation "

"As is my wish that they do not abandon the struggle but that , no matter where , they continue to fight the enemies of The fatherland , faithful to the ideals of the great Clausewitz. "

To " not abandon" the struggle is to fight on........this will continue the blood shed.

"To read the factual documents often exposes weak and biased opinions from those who choose not to do so"
Perhaps it does expose the biased opinions of those who have read them.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this one yet but on the subject of betrayal i would have to consider Poland as the greatest of WW2.

Polands independance was the reason for the the war and yet she was enslaved at its end. Russia invaded her yet ended up on the allies side.
Somewhere far far away doing secret things to nasty people in hot climates. Sssshhhh dont tell the wife, she thinks I play a piano in a whore house!

Poland.

Good point earl.
Poland from an Allied point of view could not be helped in 39 , but they at least declared against Germany.
Russia served self interest by jumping under the covers for a short and ill fated fling with Hitler .
Russia continued to serve self interest when she was sure of Hitler's defeat , we are still counting the cost in political and economic tterms of Hitler's folly and Stalin's lust for domination.
