in answer to the question of Baltic cities with German names........
Gdansk was never Gotenhafen, nor was gotenhafen ever Danzig.
Gdansk is the polish name for the German city Danzig, or the otherway around.
Gotenhafen was the german name for the neighboring harbor village of Gdingen.
