The Bf-109 D / E "Zerstörer" 1939 and 1940.
The I. / Zerstorergeschwader 52. In defense of the Reich - Western Front.
As of January 6, 1940 the unit received its first Bf-110C and the group began training with the heavy twin-engined fighter in Usedom. In March of 1940 the I. / ZG 52 was operational and ready to take part in the action. At the beginning of the Operation Case Yellow (Fall Gelb) it was deployed in Mannheim.
