The kragenspiegel of the Wehrmacht did not denote rank. These were found on sleeve, and shoulderpads.
Waffenfarbe wasthe piping around the shoulderpads, for example blue=medical, brown = sicherheitsdienst, white = infantry, etc.
You probably will find a thread or two (or three) on the forum, with the search feature.
