Thank you very much for the kind words Paul! :D

I'm more and more interested in the minor and unsual, or odd aspects of the Forces of the Third Reich. The Feuerwerker being one. Another favorite is the Kleinkampfverbände of the Kriegsmarine. Well, I could go on... Hopefully more members could contribute with facts, anecdotes and more photographs.

With best regards,

On the following Deutsche Wochenschau newsreel dated 22.03.1945, the first minute and a half shows Hauptmann Egon Agtha with his men and in "action" disarming Blindgänger bombs. The rest of the seven minute long newsreel is also very interesting with shots from Königsberg, Breslau, on the HJ and of the Volkssturm RKT Ernst Tiburzy...

So finally, the portrait photograph of Wilhelm Sitt, RK on 07.02.1945 as Führer eines Btls. D. Kölner Volksturmes und Abschnittsleiter (ehrenamtl.) im Gau-Org. Amt der NSDAP-Gauleitung Köln-Aachen (Scherzer 2005). My sincere thanks to AHF member Transpspeer for providing it.

Hello to all :D; a little complement.............................

Hauptmann Heinz Schweizer (18 July 1908 – 5 June 1946) was a Luftwaffe Feuerwerker or armourer, specifically a bomb disposal operator, during World War II. He is noted for his role in saving a group of political prisoners at the end of the war. In May 1943 Schweizer recovered an unexploded bouncing bomb from a Lancaster, 'E Easy', that crashed on its way to the target during Operation Chastise, the Dambuster raid. On 28 June 1943 he was awarded with the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes (Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross) as Hauptmann (W) and leader of Sprengkommando 1/IV Ratingen-Düsseldorf.
