I can't seem to find him in any online directories of Knight's Cross holders
but in "Tigers in Combat-2" by W.Schneider there is a photo of him wearing one (p. 357)

Hello Lennardq!
Your Schienhofen of sSSPzAbt 502 is not mentioned as a Ritterkreuzträger in any literature I've been studying. My two main sources (which do NOT list Schienhofer as a RK-träger) are "Ritterkreuzträger" by Gerhard von Seemen (1976) and "Their Honor was loyalty! - An illustrated and documentary history of the Knight's Cross holders of the Waffen-SS and the Police" by Jost W. Schneider (2nd Ed. 1993).
Maybe it's a wrongful identification in the picture text in your book "Tigers in combat-2" by W. Schneider? I think that must be the problem...
Regards,
Krollspell

You're right, that must be the explanation
With the restrictions on posting copyrighted photos on the web I'm not going to post the pic, but it probably isn't Schienhofen then.
