Peiper: Final rank Obersturmbannfuhrer or Standartenfuhrer?

Post by Wolfkin »

Hello!

I am trying to determine whether Jochen Peiper's final rank was that of an Obersturmbannfuhrer or of a Standartenfuhrer. I have conflicting information in my sources. Thank you in advance!

Cheers,

Wolfkin

Hi Wolfkin,
the last rank of Jochen Peiper was SS-Standartenführer.

strange, but many sources say that Peiper was a Colonel during his time in the Ardennes offensive, and Colonel in SS Ranks is Standatenfuhrer, so it's all confusing :?

Hello 17SS!

Taking in the amount of posts, opinions and feelings about Jochen Peiper, you could almost believe that he really was a high and mighty SS-Oberstgruppenführer und Generaloberst der Waffen-SS...

yes lol, one time when I was small, around 10, I thought he was the commander of the Leibstandarte after reading a comic book about him! :D how wrong I was then...

how much younger? aren't you like 11 now? when I was 11, I was still trying to figure out if X-Wings were superior to TIE fighters...
