Peiper: Final rank Obersturmbannfuhrer or Standartenfuhrer?

Hello!

I am trying to determine whether Jochen Peiper's final rank was that of an Obersturmbannfuhrer or of a Standartenfuhrer. I have conflicting information in my sources. Thank you in advance!

the last rank of Jochen Peiper was SS-Standartenführer.

strange, but many sources say that Peiper was a Colonel during his time in the Ardennes offensive, and Colonel in SS Ranks is Standatenfuhrer, so it's all confusing

SS-Ostubaf. is also kind of a colonel rank, you know. Lieutenant Colonel.

yes lol, one time when I was small, around 10, I thought he was the commander of the Leibstandarte after reading a comic book about him!
