I have a coin from 1936 that my Grandma gave me when the German occupation of the Baltic states was there. I don't have a digi camera so i want to know as much info on this, including it's worth when it was minted.
It's 29MM in diameter, it's the silvery color (not a gold color), it's 3 MM in thickness. On one side in the middle it shows a face which is scratched out that i can't make out who it is, underneat it says Paul (or Daul??) von hindenburg. On the left of the face it shows a tiny A and then shows 1847-1934. On the other side of the coin it shows the Eagle holding a type of leaf ring with his claws, and in the middle of the ring is the swastika. On the left of the ring is the number 5. On the right of the ring it says, Relens Marf.
Underneath the ring it reads, Deutlthes Relen 1936.
Need info on a German coin
Hi Metroid
I'm also no specialist in currency, but:
I think some of the letters you write are not exactly right.
For me it seems to be a 5 Rentenmark (you wrote: Relens Marf) coin, wich was made in Berlin (A).
The man is Paul von Hindenburg who was "Reichspräsident", when Hitler get "Reichskanzler" in January 1933. Hindenburg died in 1934 (1847-1934) and afterwards Hitler also get Reichspräsident, but was called "Führer". Deutsches Reich (you wrote: Deutlthes Relen) 1936 means, that the coin was made in 1936.

I made a mistake, meteroid. The Rentenmark only existed from 1923-1924 and was followed by the Reichsmark. So on your coin should be written "Reichsmark".
Is the coin like this:

sry for the late reply...Metroid 2 wrote:That's the one, though mines is from 1936. So 5 retenmarks would be like a nickel here?
Rentemark was the name of the german currency from 1923 to 1924, where it changed name to Reichsmark, 1924 - 1945. as with the Rentemark, 100 RentePfenning = 1 Rentemark, the Reichsmark was the same, escept the name, 100 ReichsPfenning = 1 Reichsmark or 100 Cents = 1 Dollar.
after the war, germany had 100 Pfenning = 1 Mark, the euro is 100 Cent = 1 Euro :)
hope it helped :)
