What rank was an Oberfahnrich? it is mentioned a few times in Infantry Aces Of The Reich but i have never heard of it before.

the order is:

Fahnenjunker
Faehnrich
Oberfaehnrich

the next rank is leutnant.

Wore an officer's uniform with (usually) oberfeldwebel shoulder marks.

Graduates of the war academy and serving as "provosional" Leutants.

The idea was to give cadets experience as platoon leaders at
the front before commissioning. The W-SS also had 3 different junker rankings. All that I recall from the top of my head.
