Arko 141, Arko 142

Post by Stauffenberg »

Hi Forum!

Could anybody tell me where the Artillery Commanders Arko 141 and Arko 142 where based when Germany attacked the Soviet Union (22.06.1941). I guess they didn´t take part.

Many thanks in advance!

Arko.141 is probably in Höh.Kdo.z.b.V.XXXVII. Where that is I do not know.

Arko.142 no information.

Haaaa, that helps a lot.

The Höh. Kdo. XXXVII was based at the Pas de Calais in France this time. According to the OoB 22.06.1941 there was indeed an Arko in Western Europe.

Therefore Arko 141 could have controlled the heavy Railway Artillery located there.

Thanks a lot David!

Gentlemen,

I'm not saying that any of this is incorrect, I'd just like to mention a few facts. Das Deutsche Heer indicates that ARKO 141 was assigned to LXXXII A.K. It is true that LXXXII A.K. was formed from Höh.Kdo. XXXVII in late May 1942 however, Tessin does not indicate that any ARKO was attached to Höh.Kdo. XXXVII. Tessin also indicates that Höh.Kdo. XXXVII was under AOK 15 in the Netherlands from July '40 to May '42.

FWIW.

Hi Jerry!

Thank you for the clarification. It´s indeed a much appreciated additional info.

Don´t know the area of operation of HK XXXVII. AFAIK the 208. Infanteriedivision was subordinated, located at Calais. Moreover there were a lot of Railway Artillery Batteries in France. Their location there ("Street of Calais/Dover") would also fit.

Anyway it´s just speculative but at least a point to start my further research.

Greetings Troops!

Don't know if this is any help?

I have no indication of where ARKO 141 and 142 were 22.06.41, but:
my records show the "140" series in Barbarossa as -

no Arko 140-141-142
Arko 143 - XXIV MotK - 02 PzAOK
Arko 144 - IX AK - 04 AOK (this one may be a typo on my part)
Arko 145 - VIII AK - 09 AOK
Arko 146 - XXXXVII MotK - 02 PzAOK
Arko 147 - VII AK - 04 AOK
Arko 148 - with 02 AOK (in reserve)
no Arko 149

Unfortunately I have very little information on in-depth makeup of the Korps in the West for June 1941, and the only "E"Abt's I'm showing for around that time were the ones attached to HQ: 04 AOK, for use in the East.

Sorry I'm not more help.
best regards Jerry, Stauffenberg, David:

Yes, Shadow, I have to admit that there is no satisfying source for the Arkos, although Brigade Commands. At least I don´t know such at source. :(

Here is what I have, based on the online "Schematische Gliederung" (Source: Chris Awender and Leo Niehorster):

140: IV. Armeekorps
141: ?
142: ?
143: XXIV. (mot.) Armeekorps
144: IV. Armeekorps
145: VIII. Armeekorps
146: XXXXVII. (mot.) Armeekorps
147: VII. Armeekorps
148: XII. Armeekorps (rather) or 2nd Army
149: XII. Armeekorps or 2nd Army (rather) or what

Thanks for helping!

Monsieur Herr Senor Stauffenberg
:D

Great stuff, as usual, my friend!
That 44 Arko or 144 Arko for IX Korps has been driving me nuts for some time!

best regards -
