My daughter, the computer whizz, warned me of a new outbreak of a computer scam. The e-mail purports to come from the IRS and tells the recipient that his last tax return is electronically checked out. He has 48 hours to answer to avoid paying penalties. Some of the questions asked are about his bank account(s), SSN, etc.
Answering this e-mail could easily result in identity theft! The IRS has stated that they NEVER do any electronic checking of tax returns and NEVER send e-mails to anyone who submitted his tax returns electronically.
So, fellow forum members, BEWARE!
My very best to all of you. Joscha

Well considering that the IRS does not ask for an email address, or your bank account information during the normal tax return filing procedures if someone falls for that then they get what they deserve for being as "dumb a bag of hammers."
The IRS may be rough at times, but 48hrs, even with an "Intent to Levy" they give you 10 to 15 days to respond.
Some of these scams are so obvious its amazing that they work.
