British Tornado radial engine

Post by Tony »

Does anyone have any information on this engine? From what I've read it sounded like a massive engine... I dont think it was installed in any aircraft though.
cheers

I'm not aware of there being a British 'Tornado' engine. There was the US Tornado engine - a 42 cylinder six-row beast. You may be getting confused with this engine and the Hawker Tornado which was the forerunner of the Typhoon/Tempest family and was originally fitted with the Rolls Royce Vulture and later the Centaurus radial that was also fitted to the Tempest II. Other than that I dunno...
