Bookdealers

Does anyone have a list of bookdealers, or have a link to a link site with a listing to dealers of WW2 German military history books, new &/or old?

Articles of War is one of the best. Their link is on the main page of Feldgrau.

Doc, I'm kinda partial to Aegis/Aberjona Press. I've read all but one of their books, and I've enjoyed all of them. Some more than others, of course. Then again, I'm a little prejudiced, 'cuz I contributed to a few of them. Still, they're worth checking out, especially if you like first person accounts:

Can't beat Helion - easily the best German language book suppliers in England; they send abroad too. Their catalogue is huge.

I have to tell you folks something really good about Articles of War. I was recently searching for a book through ABE.com. Apparently, I somehow managed to order the book not only on their website, but also through the website of the folks that had the book (AoW). Well, Bob Ruman, the owner, went through the trouble of cancelling my order through ABE, then e-mailing me to let me know about my mistake.
When I called him to figure what the hell I had managed to do, and how, he was very gracious. When he saw the double order, he realized what had happened and corrected it, all on his own. I thanked him profusely, telling him that frankly, I'm not accustomed to this type of service nowadays.
So, if you're looking for a particular book, by all means start with Bob. Obviously, he takes very good care of his customers!

I agree 100% with Tom. Bob Ruman has excellent customer service and nothing is too much trouble for him. A few years ago, I ordered the whole Tessin set from Bob. Of course it was too expensive to buy in one go, so I arranged with Bob to send me one or two volumes a month – and in the order I wanted them!

Bob was also the first bookstore to place a large order for my book. I can't recommend Articles of War highly enough.

Tom Petteys at Aberdeen Bookstore (http://www.aberdeenbookstore.com/) is also a good guy with great customer service. He personally handles every order from start to finish.

I must echo the statements here regarding Bob and Articles of War. I first met Bob when he operated his EXCELLENT store in Skokie, Ill. At the time I was in school in Milwaukee and I fondly recall MANY times when I skipped classes at the university to take a day trip to Skokie. I would spend hours and hours looking over books and everytime I found something really great. Bob was always very friendly and always made great deals with me as well. Sometime in 1999-2000 he moved to New Mexico where he now runs his store out of his ranch. I haven't been to his new location but I have kept in touch and I have ordered many a book from him since. I was heart broken when he moved from Skokie though... There wasn't a book store that came even close to AoW anywhere in the entire midwest, and once he left my day trips and source for hard to find military books was gone. I myself moved soon after, so I guess it all worked out in the end...

Anyway, I HIGHLY recommend AoW and suggest Bob as your #1 go-to source for any and all military book needs.

I just used Abe.com to locate a copy of Forgotten Legions (i've watched E Bay for months and not seen it). A copy for $29 was purchased and delivered to the UK in a week (postage $14). The book was nigh on brand new condition and i am well pleased.

I agree with Erich, http://www.tollehausbooks.com is absolutely a fantastic online site by buy WWII books. Very cheap new books, fast service and a large selection of new books. I also will definately agree with everyone about Articles of War. As a matter of fact I just ordered two books from there last night (and this is the first time I have ever ordered from Articles of War)

Schmitz, P, Thies, K-J, Wegmann, G, & Zweng, C.
DEUTSCHEN DIVISIONEN 1939-1945 - Volume 1.

DEATH OF THE LEAPING HORSEMAN - 24. Panzer Division in Stalingrad : 12th August to 20th November, 1942

I had not been able to fine the Die Deutschen Divisionen book from any other American book seller, so when I saw it on the Articles of War site, I was highly pleased! What impresses me most about Articles of War, is their selection. They have many hard to find and rare books.

Servus,
Let me also chime in on the Articles of War fan club. I have been doing business with Bob Ruman since the early 1970s, before they even moved to Skokie, IL. On a personal note, I had lost track of a very dear friend with whom I had served in the Army and whom I had "turned on" to Articles of War. My friend had aske Bob if he know of my whereabouts and got us in contact with each other. I can't speak too highly about Articles of War.

Landmark Booksellers

I recommend Landmark Military Booksellers. I ordered a few books from them recently and was highly impressed with the service. Doug who runs it was extremely kind and very patient with me when I chopped and changed my order and postage requirements, he also e-mailed me on request to let me know when the books had been posted and the books turned up the day after he had recieved the payment! They were very well wrapped and I was really happy with the service! He also has quite a catalogue of hard to find books.

I might also add the Merriam Press here. There is a lot of good stuff available on that site, both regular books, and books copied in pdf format onto CDs. Going the CD route, the prices are extremely low!! Take a gander!!

I forgot, I had to put in the URL!

I'll second the recommendation for Doug - very good stock and incredibly efficient service. Books normally arrive in about three days. Way faster than Helion...
